About HL Minds

HL Minds brings together high-scoring IB graduates who understand the pressure of the IB. The deadlines, the internal assessments, and the exam stress. Each tutor works independently, offering practical, friendly and exam-focused support. The approach is simple: build deep understanding first, then reinforce it through structured past paper practice.

HL Minds operates as an intermediary platform. The website connects students with independent tutors. Tutoring agreements, lesson terms, and payments are arranged directly between the student and the tutor.

Our Approach

  • Diagnose understanding and build a simple learning plan.
  • Explain concepts clearly with worked examples.
  • Practice with targeted past questions and examiner expectations.
  • IA/EE support where relevant, keeping authenticity & integrity.
  • Weekly rhythm that fits school life and exam timelines.

Why It Works

  • Relatable: We just finished the IB - strategies are fresh.
  • Focused: Every lesson has a goal and quick wins.
  • Accountable: Light homework & feedback between sessions.
  • Flexible: 1-to-1 or small groups, across time zones.

How We Make Steady Progress

Consistent beats cramming. Each lesson follows a loop: quick recap → 2–3 targeted past questions → mark-scheme feedback → next steps. We recommend:

  • Cadence: 1-2×/week normally; 2+×/week in the 6–8 weeks before mocks/exams.
  • Homework: focused question-set (or a 20–40-minute timed set) between sessions.
  • Study pack: build a shared formula sheet/glossary + exam checklists as we go.
  • Assessment rhythm: one timed paper every session every 2 weeks before an exam.
  • IA/EE: lock a research question early; milestones → outline → draft → feedback. Integrity first.

Checklist

  • Send syllabus/option topics, exam dates, and target grade.
  • Share recent tests or coursework (with teacher comments).
  • Agree a weekly slot and preferred contact (email/WhatsApp).
  • Set up a shared folder/Doc for homework, feedback, and the formula sheet.

FAQs

How do online lessons work?

We meet on your preferred platform (e.g., Google Meet/Zoom). We use shared documents, whiteboards and past papers. After each lesson, we share the class' notes and practice homework questions.

What time zones do you cover?

We're flexible across all timezones. Tell us your timezone in the form and we'll match you with a tutor.

Do you help with IA/EE?

Yes — we help with planning, structure and research guidance while ensuring academic integrity. We do not write work for students.

Can I try a lesson first?

Yes. Your first lesson is free: a short diagnostic + teaching segment + learning plan. No obligation.

How do I pay?

Payments are arranged directly between you and your tutor. Tutors typically use Tikkie or bank transfer. HL Minds does not handle payments or act as a party to the tutoring agreement.

What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellation and rescheduling terms are set by each tutor individually.

Do you tutor MYP as well?

Yes — especially Maths and general study skills to prepare for the DP.

Are tutors employed by HL Minds?

No. All tutors on HL Minds operate as independent self-employed professionals (ZZP). HL Minds functions as a platform that connects students with tutors. Each tutor independently determines their rates, availability, cancellation policy, and lesson structure.
